All The White Queen’s Horses…

The BBC adaptation of author Philippa Gregory’s The White Queen seems to have stirred cats and pigeons into frenetic activity this morning, in the main thanks to what some might consider careless production.

Seeing a sidesaddle in all its glory (plus balance strap, for those who know how late in time they were introduced) did it for me.

Anyhow, part of the debate went back to how little writers/producers/set designers often know about our main form of transport and power for thousands of years, and here’s a really useful resource for any novelist writing about our unfamiliar friend, The Horse
